Estuarine sites

Aquatic, continental and estuarine environments are the main vector of transfer of pollutants from the soils towards other environments, but they also are a stock area more or less stable of pollution in the sediments. Aquatic living organisms are real targets as they live in those impacted sites.

POLLUSOLS focuses on several zones of the Loire estuary: upstream, the estuary itself, and the near coastal area. The project examines the levels and movements of the metals (particularly platinoids, copper, lead and mercury) between aquatic environments and marine organisms.
